Outgoing Students

From it’s establishment and till now, SCOPE Palestine was and still one of the most active committees in IFMSA-Palestine . As I mentioned above that our work was confined initially on sending outgoing students .

The NEOs and the president were working very hard in singing contacts since the request unilateral ones, nevertheless ,we managed to send many students every year .

We sent 39 students to Mediterranean and European countries… 19 students the last year ,and sending 22 this year .

The experience of our out going students was very useful and they had enjoyed very much the places where they went .

This year we singed :

2 contracts with Spain ,2 contracts with Sweden ,2 contracts with Poland ,1 contract with Germany, 2 contracts with Italy , 2 contracts with Tunisia ,2 contracts with Bahrain ,5 contacts with Turkey and for the first time ,2 contracts with France ,2 contracts with USA ,2 Contacts with Greece .

Incoming Students

Exchange Conditions of IFMSA-Palestine :

Level of studies :

Students should have started clinical year.

Type of Clerkship:

Clinical .

Languages :

English is the teaching language.

Duration of Clerkship :

4 weeks.(more weeks can be arranged and should be specified in the contract)

Working Conditions :

Exchange students work under the same conditions as Palestinian students and must obey all hospital regulations. If the exchange student does not, he/she will be expelled from the clerkship. We expect the student to actively participate in department activities.
Exchange students are not covered by malpractice insurance in Palestinian hospitals. Thus, They are allowed to dial with and examine patients under supervision. They are however required to attend and actively participate in all bedside rounds, conferences, and case discussions. Exchange students are required to attend a minimum of 6 hours per day.

General, rheumatology, cardiology, and endocrine.
Out Patient Clinics.
All months through the year

2. Pediatrics
Pediatrics Ward
Out Patient Clinics
all months through the year

3. Surgery
General and Vascular Surgery.
Ward
Out Patient Clinics
all months through the year.

Any divisions include visits to the Operating Room, Out Patient Clinics as well as conferences and discussions.
Placement in the desired field is not always possible, so make sure you fill out more than one choice. IF YOU FILL OUT ONE CHOICE ONLY, THIS DOES NOT MEAN THAT YOU WILL BE PLACED IN THAT DEPARTMENT, BUT THAT YOU AGREE TO ANY DEPARTMENT IF THE DEPARTMENT OF CHOICE IS NOT AVAILABLE.

Periods & Towns :

the exchange is available in the training hospitals of Al-Quds University (our university) :

1-Al Makassed Hospital in Jerusalem.
2-Augusta Victoria Hospital in Jerusalem.

Periods:

we prefer August and October. This year we will host our incomings o July During the rest of the year, social activities would be available and offered by local students on personal basis.

Application documents & deadline :

We work with electronic application form. So every thing will be online.

You have to bring with you:
1. English Language Certificateb from your faculty is preferred.
2. Proof of registration with medical school (Dean’s letter)
3. Health insurance

Required equipments to bring:
Stethoscope, white coat, torch, hammer, and formal dress

Insurance :

It is a MUST to have health insurance during one's stay in Palestine. We do not bear responsibility for any student who has no medical coverage.

Pocket Money :

We do not offer any pocket money.

Board & Lodging :

Both board and lodging are free on bilateral basis.2 Meals will be offered at the hospital's cafeteria (one meal free and the other with low coast (two dollars).
We are not responsible for friends, family or pets.
Lodging will be provided in student hotels in the center of Jerusalem.
Unilateral fee is 350 Euros.

Social Program :

Since PALESTINE is a historical and a touristy country, we provide our guests a wonderful social program
Social program is ONLY available during August and October. During the rest of the year, activities would be available and offered by local students on personal basis.
Social program consists of site seeing and visit cities of Palestine and camping on Beach as well (Jerusalem, bethlahem, jercho, the dead sea, Sea of Galelie and the Mediterranean).

Substitutions :

Must accept the same period, sex and department of the original applicant.
Notice of substitution should be sent by e-mail no later than 4 weeks prior to the date of clerkship.

Cancellations :

Not preferred, but if there is inform us 6 weeks before the start of the clerkship.
We prefer substitutions to cancellations

Visas :

To enter Palestine you have to get Israeli visa. and enter as TOURIST
Should the state of Israel requires a tourist entry visa from the student’s country, it is the student’s responsibility to make Visa arrangements.

Special remarks :

The student is to follow the morals and traditions of the country.
Age Limitation: only students between age of 20 and 30 years are accepted.
Exchange Students should inform by e-mail about date and time of arrival.
NEO reserves the right to cancel any clerkship if he receives any complaints of misconduct or unethical practice either in the hospital or in the lodging
